 Salons

The Vero Beach Club is starting a whole new series this season. We are offering a Salon to kick things off and hope to add more in the coming months.

Future salons such as Lila Blakeslee and Ray McClendon as possible guest speakers!

Our first "Salon" was a success!

Guest Speaker/Artist
BARBARA KRUPP
Wednesday, November 6, 2019
7:00pm-9:30pm
Held at the home of Dorothy Napp Schindel

As a very first event sponsored by the new Workshop committee, Dorothy Napp Schindel and Susan Gancher, co-chairs, planned an inaugural SALON, held on Wednesday November 6, from 7-9:30pm at Dorothy's home. The evening, which featured a talk by abstract expressionist artist Barbara Krupp, opened with an outdoors get to know you wine/dessert reception. The event then moved inside and settled into the living room, where Barbara took center stage offering an inspiring talk.

Barbara especially emphasized how helpful galleries can be and, therefore, well worth the commission that artists pay when sales occur.  The wonderful story of the Dabbert Gallery in Sarasota being responsible for introducing Barbara's work to the president of the University of Tampa was especially exciting. The sale of fifty four pieces of Barbara's art that now grace the walls of the new Academic Building for Graduate Science and Health Studies, was fascinating.

We look forward to future Salons, a Book Group, lectures, panels, workshops and classes.  Please let us know if you have ideas or would like to work with the committee. See contact information at the bottom of the page.

A lively discussion then took place, filled with questions, commentary and thought provoking ideas. The discussion centered around Barbara's work with galleries, how she has been influenced by them and how they have informed and affected her career and work over the years. She offered many pointers on why and how to apply to galleries, the nitty gritty of working with them, and how to remain focused on the worth of one's art work despite potential rejections or gallery locations that do not seem to be the right fit.

Barbara, an expressionist contemporary painter, is presently represented by the Dabbert Gallery in Sarasota, Ann Jackson Gallery in Roswell, GA and the Muse Gallery in Ohio. Over the years, she has shown her work in shows and additional galleries throughout the country and abroad.  She divides her time between Ohio and Vero Beach and maintains a studio/gallery on Rte 1 in Vero.   Barbara's website is www.barbarakrupp.com.  Please visit the site to learn more about Barbara....and her work.
